Pamlico County Inmate Lookup
The official sources reviewed did not locate a Pamlico County online jail roster URL. That is the central local finding for this page. Pamlico County Detention exists and is operated by the Sheriff's Office, but the county and sheriff pages do not publish a searchable booking list, public inmate profile page, mugshot roster, or online bond table. Third-party jail sites should not be treated as official Pamlico County inmate records.
The Pamlico County Sheriff's Office page is the official local starting point for detention questions. It identifies the Law Enforcement Center as the home of the sheriff, the County Magistrate's Office, and Pamlico County Detention. It also says the Sheriff's Office maintains and operates the county detention center, supervises inmates, protects inmate rights, and is responsible for food, clothing, exercise, recreation, and medical services.
The official sheriff page is the source for Pamlico County inmate detention context.
This county page supports the local custody route, but it does not provide an online roster or warrant lookup claim.
Pamlico County Jail Roster Channels
Use the county detention channel when the person may be newly arrested, waiting for bond, awaiting a first appearance, housed pretrial, or serving short local time. Use state correction channels when the person is sentenced to state prison, on probation or parole, or listed in the state offender system. Use the sex offender registry only for registration status. A registry profile is not proof that a person is in jail.
| Channel | Covers | How to Use | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pamlico County Sheriff's Office / Detention | Local arrests, pretrial custody, county detention status | Call (252) 745-3101 or jail phone (252) 745-3554; visit or call 200 Main Street | No official online roster was located. |
| NC DAC Offender Search | State prisoners, probationers, parolees, and historical state data | Search by name or offender ID through NC DAC | Does not include county jail records. |
| NC Sex Offender Registry | Registered sex offenders in North Carolina and Pamlico County | Use the state registry linked by the sheriff | Not a jail roster or booking list. |
| Pamlico Sheriff app | Agency communication, tips, crime reports, public safety news | Download the official app from Google Play or Apple App Store | Store listings do not confirm an inmate roster or warrant tool. |
| Phone or in person | Booking, bond, magistrate, and custody questions | Contact detention, sheriff, or magistrates at the Law Enforcement Center | Confidential or juvenile information may not be released. |
The NC Sheriffs' Association profile for Sheriff Chris Davis gives another official phone reference for the sheriff and jail phone.
That profile helps verify local sheriff and jail contact information when no county roster link is available.
Pamlico County Detention Facilities
Pamlico County has two different Bayboro custody settings that are easy to confuse. Pamlico County Detention is the county jail function under the Sheriff's Office at the Law Enforcement Center. Pamlico Correctional Institution is a state prison operated by the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. A person in one system may not appear in the other system's lookup channel.

The NC DAC Pamlico Correctional Institution page is separate from the sheriff's detention information.
This NC DAC facility record confirms the state prison location and capacity, which should not be mixed with county jail custody.
NC DAC Inmate Search Limits
The NC Department of Adult Correction offender search covers state prisoners, probationers, parolees, and historical state offender data back to 1972. It is useful when a person has moved from local court custody into state prison or state supervision. It is not the official search for someone booked into Pamlico County Detention.
The state offender search offers a different record set from a county jail roster.
Use this state search for prison and supervision records after checking whether the person may still be in local custody.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Options / Format Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name | Text | One of name or offender ID | Search by name for state prisoners, probationers, or parolees. |
| Offender ID | Text | One of name or offender ID | Use when the state offender number is known. |
| Registry or search type | Link/search category | Optional | Public offender locator, sex offender registry, Interstate Compact, and law-enforcement search categories are separate paths. |
| Result coverage | Record scope | Not applicable | State prison, probation, and parole data; county jail records are excluded. |
The NC DAC public-records page states the county jail limitation directly.
That limitation is why a no-result state search does not prove that a person is not in Pamlico County Detention.
Pamlico County Inmate Fields
No official Pamlico County jail roster profile was available for inspection. For the county jail, all online profile fields should be treated as not confirmed. If someone needs booking number, bond, warrant number, housing unit, magistrate status, court date, or release timing, the official route is to call the Sheriff's Office or the detention number.
A county custody call should be specific. Give the person's full legal name, date of birth if known, the arresting agency if known, and whether the question is about current custody, bond, court date, release, mail, or visitation. Detention staff may be able to confirm basic custody facts, but they may decline to release confidential, juvenile, medical, investigative, or safety-sensitive details. Court case status may need a separate Portal or clerk search because a jail booking record and a court case record are not the same file.
| Field | Status for Pamlico County Detention |
|---|---|
| Booking number | Not confirmed in an official online county roster. |
| Booking date | Not confirmed online; ask detention staff. |
| Charges | May be checked through detention staff and related court records. |
| Bond amount | Not confirmed online; magistrate or detention staff may provide current status when releasable. |
| Housing unit | Not confirmed online and may be restricted for safety reasons. |
| Projected release | Not confirmed online; county release timing may change with bond, court orders, or transfer. |
Pamlico Sheriff App and Registry
The official "Pamlico County Sheriff" app was found in Google Play and the Apple App Store. Store descriptions say the app supports agency communication with residents, reporting crimes, submitting tips, interactive features, and public-safety news and information. The app is not for emergencies; call 911 in an emergency. The listings reviewed did not confirm an app-only jail roster, inmate lookup, warrant search, most-wanted list, or records-request portal.
The NC Sex Offender Registry is also linked by the sheriff as the state sex offender search route.
The registry can confirm registration information, but it should not be used as a jail custody list or booking record.
Pamlico Booking and Court Status
Booking status, bond status, and court status can come from different official channels. Pamlico County Detention can answer current custody and booking questions when the information is releasable. Magistrates can be the right contact for bond, first appearance, and criminal process questions. The Clerk of Superior Court and Portal are better for case numbers, court dates, filed charges, dispositions, and payment status once the case exists in the court record.
That split is useful when a person has just been arrested. The jail may know whether the person is in custody before the court case is easy to find online. Later, Portal or the clerk may show hearings and case events that detention staff does not control. If the person is transferred to state prison after judgment, NC DAC becomes the official custody search. If the person is released on bond, the court case may still remain active even though the jail no longer holds the person.
Note: A release from Pamlico County Detention does not dismiss the charge or cancel future court dates.
Pamlico County Visitation and Mail
Official Pamlico County Detention visitation, mail, commissary, and money-deposit rules were not located on the sheriff or county pages reviewed. Do not import schedules or vendor names from third-party jail sites. Call Pamlico County Sheriff's Office or detention before visiting, mailing anything, setting up phone calls, or attempting to deposit funds.
Ask detention staff for the current visit schedule, approved visitor rules, identification requirements, dress rules, inmate mail format, accepted address line, property drop-off rules, attorney visit process, phone vendor, tablet vendor if any, deposit options, and fees. If a person has been moved to Pamlico Correctional Institution or another state facility, use NC DAC visitation rules instead of county jail assumptions. State prison visits are appointment based and should be confirmed with the prison before travel.
| Topic | Official County Detail Located | Practical Instruction |
|---|---|---|
| In-person visitation | Not published in reviewed official county sources | Call sheriff or detention before arriving. |
| Video visitation | Not published in reviewed official county sources | Do not name a vendor unless detention staff confirms it. |
| Mail format | Not published in reviewed official county sources | Call for inmate name, ID, address, and content rules before mailing. |
| Commissary or deposits | Not published in reviewed official county sources | Ask detention staff for current methods, limits, and fees. |
| Attorney visits | Not published in reviewed official county sources | Attorneys should call detention, magistrates, or the Sheriff's Office. |
State prison visitation is different. NC DAC says prison visits are by appointment only, visitors should contact the prison where the person is housed, and visitors should confirm status the day before a scheduled visit.
